National Monument in Jakarta

National Monument, known as the Monument or Tugu Monas is located at Monas, Central Jakarta, was built in 1960. National Monument is one of the warning which was established to commemorate the resistance and the Indonesian people's struggle against the Dutch colonialists.

The memorial forms of which one is very unique, is made of marble stone obeliks yoni phallus-shaped fertility symbol based on Hindu culture. This monument is 132 meters, at the top of the National Monument there are bronze torch-shaped cup support the weight of 14.5 tons and 35 kg of gold coated. Burning torch or flame is a symbol of the Indonesian people fighting spirit that never goes out in gaining independence.
